Flugzeugs machte es bei den Piloten sehr beliebt. Die Maschine gehört zu den meistgebauten Flug-
zeugtypen; bei Supermarine und deren Lizenznehmern wurden mehr als 20.300 Spitfires aller
Varianten gebaut. Sie blieb bis weit in die 1950er Jahre im Dienst.
